Ben&Ben: "Doors" Single Launch

Last night, Ben&Ben had an online launch on YouTube for their new single, "Doors". It was also another fundraising live stream performance for COVID-19 efforts. Prior to their first livestream which was held on Facebook entitled "Puhon", they followed it up with this. Their set list consisted of "Fall", "Doors" (their new song released), "War", "Araw-Araw", "Maybe the Night", "Pagtingin" and "Ride Home" (as seen on the photo below, posted by @BenandBenMusic on Twitter).

I personally listened to the live stream at exactly 7:15pm last night, April 18, 2020, while eating dinner. My phone was playing the live stream as I placed it near our dinner table (not on the dinner table like I did with "Puhon" before). After dinner, I switched to my laptop while they were already playing "Araw-Araw". And it had me thinking... It's just so nice that as much as we're all enclosed in our small spaces, voided out of the real world, there's still music that connects us all together. It's still music that gives us the light at the end of the tunnel.

Listening to "Doors" the first time Ben&Ben released it, I felt like it was a wake-up call to the world. It was a lullaby of awakening. As it was said in one of Ben&Ben's statements, "Doors" is about how dangerous passive-aggressiveness is especially during times when we need to speak up. No more secret doors.

Personally, it's also about facing realities we can't admit to ourselves. When we really want things to turn out better, we don't turn blind eyes on what we need to know. We don't avoid what we have to accept. If we don't accept this and continue to live out in a life of lies, we won't get the true healing we need. I just hope that more people would stop denying their situations. They'll only be torturing themselves. It's better to be free with no extra baggage than to keep thinking you're free even though you still have a secret door left unopened.

To end, I would like to borrow lyrics from "Doors" by Ben&Ben:

Time won't heal anything
if you don't surrender your lies

All things will end if we learn the art of acceptance and confrontation of realities. Healing will come when we release ourselves from all uncertainties.
