This was supposed to be the last part for my thoughts and opinions about "When the Weather is Fine" but I just can't push myself to finish the last three episodes just yet. There were so many things that happened, I just couldn't contain myself. I was crying after every scene, after every revelation. I'm taking a breather while I recover. My eyes are so swollen, I can't keep it open for a long time. Of course, while I'm in that level of subsiding my overwhelmed heart, I need to write it down before I completely heal.
I will say this to all of you now: I'm not entirely flabbergasted by Haewon's character development. But at the very least, I can say that I was right! It was intentional for Haewon's personality to be so blank and so plain in the beginning because she was about to go through a change in the latter half of the story. Although it was not entirely big or dramatic for a character development, Haewon had a good transition. I could also say the same for Im Eun-soeb's story (though the resolution to that ran quite quickly... I still think it's not over just yet but there's only three episodes left. The least they can do is to spare my heart from utter explosion).
Then again, they made up for the quick transition in Im Eun-soeb's narrative with my interest in Shim Myeong-yeo and Shim Myeong-joo's stories. As I've said from the last review, I really enjoy character narrative shifts. When they began to delve into Myeong-yeo's past with Cha Yoon-taek, I was in a state of giddiness. And because their story is not fully exposed just yet, I'm curious as to what will happen next, seeing as the 13th episode led me to a cliffhanger on Myeong-yeo.
On the other hand, what definitely led me to sob was Shim Myeong-joo's bravery and love for her sister. She took a heavy burden off her shouders when (spoiler alert!!) Myeong-yeo was actually the one who ran over Myeong-joo's abusive husband. That narrative scarred my heart the most. Myeong-joo stayed with her "sometimes" abusive husband because he was quote unquote, "a sweet husband and father". And that she pitied him. And that if she were to divorce him, who would stay by his side?
A lot of abusive households have different reasons why the abused can't just leave. And that part struck me the most as "one of those reasons". But we all know that there are others that have different reasons altogether but still doesn't take away the fact that they need help with those situations. I just hope people actually experiencing these abuses don't endure it for too long. Or at the very least, they have someone to get their back if ever worst comes to worst.
Now, for the final narrative focus I was waiting for: It's Boyoung. I could feel her situation on a personal level but what she did had gone too far so soon, possibly because they are trying to squeeze the novel into 16 episodes but oh well. I pity Boyoung but I still think she's annoying.
On a side note: I enjoy the rotation from the book club. I really do. It's the scenes in the book club that I always tend to anticipate. The side characters do not feel left out. Their own stories leave me wanting more from the plot and yet, I am also satisfied with getting to know them when they are just within their circle. Although we do get snippets here and there which is fascinating but not too spoon-feeding.
That's it for now, I guess? Let me just heal more and I promise I will finish the last three episodes.
